Patina Rose – 750ML
Patina is a family-owned estate nestled in the rich volcanic slopes of Mt Canobolas near Orange, New South Wales. Owner and winemaker, Gerald Naef, blends science and technology with age-old tradition to create complex flavours forged by the elements of nature. His Patina Wine represents the complexity and elegance of cool climate wine defined by nature and his personal signature.
Winemaker: Gerald Naef
Grape Variety: 47% Merlot, 26% Chardonnay, 13% Pinot Noir, 10% Riesling and 4% Cabernet Franc.
Vineyard Region: Orange NSW
Colour: Pale Salmon pink
Palate: Crisp and refreshing, the early palate shows attractive ripe fruit leading to an intense mid palate with a crisp citrus finish. There is very little residual sugar in this wine (3 grams per litre) the illusion of sweetness up front is primarily the result of ripe fruit and the blend of grape varieties.
Style is born: Rosé is very exciting from Orange. In the cool climate the red grapes show some very rich red and black berry flavours when harvested. Then the normal vinification and ageing process of a full or medium bodied red wine tends to develop more complex flavours and mutes these fresh flavours that are so delectable in the cellar during fermentation. Rosé wines are bottled young and maintain the fruity freshness which enables people other than the winemaker to experience the wonderful fruity characters of cool climate red varieties. A beautiful sunset is simply incomplete without a glass of Patina Rosé.
